Our founder, Terry Thompson, started in video when it was called Super8 (film). He liked to take movies that were both interesting and unusual so when portable video on tape came about he bought one of the first units. It was a black and white camera that recorded on a portable reel-to-reel video recorder.

His first real video system was a side worn recorder (you remember those?) with a color video camera that was exactly like the one used by Dan Ackroyd to take video of the "ghostly librarian" in trhe first "Ghostbuster" movie.

Several cameras and dollars later he came to own a Sony DV camcorder and bought a handheld stabilizer to fly it. (Flying a camera is what it is called when you shoot with a stabilizer because the video looks as if you are flying). The problem he had was the weight of the rig over time as well as limitations of the system for waist high shots.

Terry started looking into body mounted stabilizers and realized they were all out of his price range. He decided he would make his own system which began with wood arms connected by spring loaded door hinges. After a number of different set-ups and materials he finally came up with a single arm, early version of the Indicam™ and found that it really worked. Eureka! In fact it worked so well he decided to manufacture it for those like himself who couldn't affort the other full sized rigs.

Three years later we now have a the Indicam PILOT™ which consists of a vest and dual arm system with our own fully adjustable sled. The vest./arm support system can also be used with the Glidecam® Pro handheld units and the VreezeCam® stabilizer. It can even be adapted for use with the Steadicam JR.® stabilizer. We admire and give credit to all who have gone before.

The Indicam PILOT™ system was taken to both the CES and NAB conventions in Las Vegas and was worn for six straight hours with great results..

For it's size, comfort, price, and portability, the Indicam is a great system and a great value. Out goal is to create a stabilation system that will work well, be simple and easy to use, easy to carry, and priced where the "Independent" videographer can afford it..

Indicam, Glidecam Industries Inc., VreezeCam, and Steadicam are not affiliated in any way. All other Trademarks or Service marks are the property of their respective owners..
